The Whimsy Pose Beneath the Great Banyan Trees in St. Petersburg, FL

The Whimsy Pose beneath the Great Banyan Trees

Straub Park & Baywalk St. Petersburg, Florida

The Banyan Trees in St. Petersburg, Florida at Straub Park are an amazing site to behold. On this particular day my friend Jill was in Florida visiting with my sister Carolyn and me from Minnesota. We found a parking spot right in front of two of the most amazing Banyan Trees we had ever seen. Our intention for going to St. Petersburg was to have a look around the cute downtown area but that all changed the moment we got out of the car. We could feel the energy of the Banyan Trees calling to us. We headed straight for the trees. They were so magical. The thought of a book from my childhood called, "Go, Dog, Go," floated into my mind. It was a simple children's book where dogs of every shape, size, and color headed to one amazing tree for a big dog party on top of its branches.

We three ladies acted like children beneath these Banyan trees. We laughed. We talked. We imagined having tea parties beneath the trees. We took pictures.

I said to Carolyn and Jill, "This looks like the perfect spot to strike the whimsy pose!"

I explained the simple instructions of how to strike the whimsy pose which went something like this, "Make your eyes soft. Look to the right or left. Put 1, 2, or 3 fingers on your chin and think of something fun and magical!"

Molly demonstrates the whimsy pose.

Carolyn joins in the fun!

Jill is definitely having child-like fun!

What is Whimsy?

Here's the best thing yet! We were having so much fun beneath these trees it was contagious! A family consisting of two grandparents, a mother, father, and two little boys arrived beneath the tree. They were dressed up very nicely and we could tell they wanted to take a family photo beneath these great trees too.

As the father prepared to take a selfie photo I asked, "Would you like me to take a photo of all of you?"

"Sure," the father replied, "Thank you."

I stepped forward and snapped a few photos.

I then asked, "Would you like me to take a fun picture of all of you striking the whimsy pose?"

From behind me in a strong European accent I heard the grandfather say, "What is whimsy?"

His accent was so cute it made me chuckle. I cheerfully told him what I told Jill and Carolyn a short time earlier.

"All you have to do is make your eyes soft. Look to the right or left. Put 1, 2, or 3 fingers on your chin and think of something fun, magical, and whimsical!"

The family struck the whimsy pose. I snapped a few photos. And soon the entire group of us were  laughing together! It was truly an AwEsOmE experience!

The Elephants Appear!

The elephant in the Banyan Tree

As we prepared to leave more magic happened! We were talking about how these trees feel like a community of elephants. They are so strong, wise, powerful, and grounding.

I said, "It's so cool that trees have 'trunks' just like elephants!"

And then, moments laters, we started seeing the elephants appearing in the tree before our eyes! Can you see the elephant head, eye, and trunk in this picture?! Amazing!

I hope some day you too can visit these magical trees, find the elephants that live within them. And don't forget to take a whimsy pose photo too!  (Look at the bottom of this post for the exact location marker to find these amazing trees)

The Whimsy Pose - Apollo Beach, Florida

Shellie and Molly strike The Whimsy Pose
Mirabay - Apollo Beach, Florida

Back on October 31, 2016 our friends Russ and Shellie arrived from Wisconsin to spend a week of fun in the Florida sunshine with my husband and me. It was a hot and humid 95 degree day. And as the sun set a few hours later the 90 degree temperature remained.

Russ and Shellie's arrival coincided perfectly with a big trick-or-treating event in our neighborhood development. As our husband's sat in lawn chairs at the end of our driveway drinking adult beverages and holding large bowls of melting chocolate bars Shellie and I devised a fun plan for the trick-or-treaters.

Before the first child arrived I asked Shellie, "Do you want to dress up like a Faerie or an Angel and hand out candy to the kids?"
Shellie responded immediately, "Absolutely, that would be a blast!"
"I have an idea!" I told Shellie, "We can have the guys hand out the candy and we'll sprinkle the pixie dust!"

Within minutes we donned our halos, battery operated strings of lights, and Faerie wings. With a wand in my hand and a pouch of magical pixie dust in hers we headed out to the street to greet the kids.

As each trick-or-treater arrived Shellie and I would ask, "Would you like to make a wish? Would you like some magical pixie dust sprinkled in your hair or hands?"

When a trick-or-treater responded affirmatively Shellie and I went to work. I waved the wand while the child wished upon a star. Shellie sprang into action and sprinkled the pixie dust. When we were finished flitting around we gave the kids a hug and sent them off on a wave of love and light!

The Zombies Receive Pixie Dust

We even had a group of zombie teenagers arrive! Only one teenager out of the entire group declined a wish or pixie dust sprinkle but all of them had smiles on their faces. No makeup could hide their light! It was AwEsOme!

Here's the most magical thing ever! A short while later a mother came back with her 3-year-old son. The mother said, "He made me come all the way back here. He doesn't want any candy. He just wanted another hug from the Angels."

This was the best "treat" that two Angels could ever ask for!

Shellie Practices the Whimsy Pose for the First Time

And she practiced...(too serious)

And practiced...(not quite there)

And then, something magical happened. She got it!

And as darkness arrived...so did the light!
